Skinboosters

A skinbooster has become a generic term for a non-cross-linked, low-volume hyaluronic acid that restores the skin's radiance and texture. Naturally, hyaluronic acid (HA) is the fundamental gel that makes up the skin's dermis. It is a macromolecule that can vary in size and weight. It is characterised by its high affinity for water, which is why it is also known as the skin's sponge. 
The best known are those in the Restylane Skinboosters® range, used at the Walzin Medical Centre. They work by moisturising and stimulating the skin's own collagen production, improving the skin's texture, firmness and overall appearance.

Indications 
Skin boosters are mainly used to improve the skin's elasticity and hydration, and to smooth fine lines.
They are particularly useful for people with dry or dull skin, as well as for those who want to prevent the signs of skin ageing and the appearance of wrinkles on the face, neck, décolleté or hands.
They can be used for overall anti-ageing prevention from the age of 25. These injections are superficial and do not alter facial volumes.

Course of the session
Depending on the area being treated, the injection will be made either with a needle or a flexible cannula, directly into the dermis. In the most sensitive areas, a local anaesthetic in the form of a cream makes the treatment painless. The fluidity of the skinbooster allows it to completely cover the area, rehydrating the dermis and plumping up the skin. The session lasts around 20-30 minutes and you can resume your activities immediately.

Precautions
Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs in the days before and after the session. 
For the next 12 hours, avoid applying make-up or any other aesthetic procedure in the same area.
For the following week, avoid intensive sport, exposure to UV or extreme heat (sauna, etc.).

The results
The results of Skinboosters injections are visible immediately after the procedure and continue to improve over time. The skin will be more hydrated, firmer and smoother. Results can last up to six months, depending on the quality of the skin and the patient's lifestyle.
The number of sessions required for Skinboosters injections can vary according to each person's needs and aesthetic goals. In general, most patients can see a significant improvement in the quality of their skin after two to three sessions, spaced four weeks apart.
