Dermatology Surgery
Small to medium sized lesions can be removed in the practice, with or without stitches depending on the indication and the type of surgery required. A local anesthesia is performed if necessary. Larger lesions are best removed in hospital.
A consultation appointment is necessary before any dermatological surgery.
Some examples of lesions treated:
- Beauty spot (nevus)
- Skin biopsy, scalp biopsy
- Cyst
- Mollusca pendula
- Dermatofibroma
- Lipoma
- Skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, etc)
You should not be fasting for the procedure.
Any anticoagulant/antiaggregant treatments should not be interrupted.
All lesions removed at the surgery are sent to the laboratory for histopathological analysis.
